Follow the directions at to grab the latest stable version, then follow the registry changes given several places in this thread, and see if Sketchup runs for you. The version of Wine that comes from apt-get/Ubuntu Software Center is usually several versions behind. Nvidia accelerated graphics driver (from System > Administration > additional drivers) for Quadro NVS 135M (driver version 260.19.06)Īgreed. After that SketchUp started just fine from either icon or command line. Reinstalled SketchUp 8 (only allowed to "repair" during installation). I finally went to Synaptic and installed wine 1.3 as described in above post. Wine 1.2.2 that came with Ubuntu 10.10 would throw a runtime error and completely hang at start up as attached below. Standard practice for me is to install Windows apps in their own wineprefix. Could it be that people already have something installed/configured under Wine that's causing problems with SketchUp? I just installed SketchUp 8 and didn't have any problems at all - not even the crash on first run - which actually disappointed me because I had a.
